At the home screen when the app is opened provides the user with Live prices for Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium.

Once a metal is selected you can quickly select the weight, unit of measurement, purity and your percent of spot (100% by default). At the bottom of the screen you calculation of the given information is displayed instantly. ** Precious Metal Calculator also uses last pulled prices if you are with out a data connection**

Pros and cons of Precious Metal Calculator app for iPhone and iPad

Precious Metal Calculator app good for

Good but I need to convert to Canadian dollars!!! Wouldnt have bought it had i known it doesnt.
Good looking professional interface. No unneccessary bells and whistles. I can get spot prices and check if Im paying too much right on site. As described, this was made for someone dealing in precious scrap metals. Love it. Will pay for itself on my first purchase, Im sure.
Good App. Just like to see two additions. 1. Price convertor. Even if you enter the factor in manually to convert dollars to your currency. It would help a lot. now have to use two apps for that. 2. Also Add Karats for the units to convert. Pray that it would come soon on the app.
The app is great and does what it needs to very well. It is an easy interface to use and looks professional. My only points to improve the app is: • Put a refresh button to manually update the metal prices. Many times I am connected to the internet and the prices may or may not update. • If there was an addition to track the metals you own based their characteristics, current value, and cost you bought it at along with historical charts, this app would be PERFECT! Other apps have this capability, but none do the calculator, charts, and investment tracker in one (that I have found). This is an updated review on version 2. Love the new interface! Much more readable and professional looking! Does this program do everything? No, but if you expect it to for $3, youre completely unreasonable.
5 Stars easily if it wasnt for a mediocre user interface and spelling errors. This is after all a calculator so the interface needs user input to calculate the type of precious metal (Spot price is calculated instantly and is updated when you start the app and again anytime you push the price button again), also, the user must choose the weight type (Troy Ounce, Gram, Grains (spelled wrong in app "Grian", very annoying), etc.), then the purity in the metal, then percentage of spot (Percent is also spelled wrong in the app). When clicking through these options, there is no [Done] button to return back to interface, for example, when you spin the purity wheel in Gold from 10K to 18K, you are stuck at the wheel, I could only figure out to click outside the wheel on the GUI to get back to it. Aside from all of the other great ideas in previous reviews I still say it is a very useful app and I use a metal detector so I find gold jewelry all the time, this gives me a quick value right in the field. Because this is how "I" use it, I really liked the idea of having the future ability to save a calculation and to be able to take a picture along with that entry, and when its in the saved folder and named, all calculations are updated immediately to spot when you view the folder containing your saves. Also in gold . . . The ability to enter a numerical amount besides the preset standards on the wheel (10k, 14k, 18k, 22k, 24k, etc.). I want to have the ability to enter .825, etc. Maybe even have a button that launches a quick popup window with a conversion chart (.750 = 18k, etc.).
Just bought this app and got it up and running in 60 seconds. Input my physical metals portfolio in Troy ounces and it gives me the total value for each metal position, and thank God it saves the input so I can recheck how my positions are doing without re-entering all the data. Oohrah!

Some bad moments

Poor, no graphs, charts or conversions etc. to expensive for what you get!
Dont never buy it bc is very stupid and no accurate calculator and sometimes given you just zerroos
Worked perfect then only loads zeros now not working at all ,,, no apology, No explanation and no refund offered
Worked fine for a day or two then nothing ! No communication !
I thought this app would be nice and it would be, but half the time I check the prices they all read zero which makes this app worthless. Very disappointed!
Use to be a pretty good app, just stopped working. Shows all current spot prices at 0.00.
